Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

My child would like to play city league, not competitive, which league do I register for?

Register your child according to their age group. An evaluation session will occur in September which is when we will make up the city league teams.

My child is interested in the competitive league. How do I register for this?

Register your child according to their age group. For children interested in competitive, there will be an option to Try-out for teams in September. Tryout dates will be announced in advance

Does my child need to try out for a competitive team?

No. Fusion believes in finding a place for every member to play basketball. For those who do not wish to play on a competitive team, you would not attend try outs for this program. Instead - you will be added to a city league roster.

How do I know which fee to pay if my child doesn't know yet if they make a competitive team?

The fee for all kids in the U11, U13, or U14 leagues is $285. If your child makes competitive, as a result of the September tryouts, you will be charged an additional $150 at that time. This fee covers competitive team costs such as extra gym time, BNB provincials, uniforms, etc. Games and tournament costs are generally fundraised by individual teams.

When will practices be held?

Schedules will be released after evaluations are complete and teams are finalized.

What is the difference between city league and competitive teams?

The competitive teams typically play at a higher skill level. Their season involves tournaments and a travelling schedule (home/ away games). It requires a greater time commitment due to more practice times, training sessions and games, City league teams are not travelling teams however, they do have a weekly practice and home games in Fredericton against the other city league teams.
